Sevilla sit sixth on 14 points after nine rounds, but the last month has been rough. They lost 3-1 at home to Barcelona, drew 3-3 at Levante, and were beaten 4-1 by Real Madrid at the Bernabéu last time out. Across the season they have scored 14 and conceded 16, so their league games have averaged more than three goals each. Marcão is out with a muscle injury, and according to reports Isaac Romero is suspended after reaching his yellow-card limit.
Osasuna are three points behind on 11 and their numbers are even more lopsided: ten goals scored and 18 conceded in nine games. They were taken apart 5-2 by Real Betis earlier this month, although Ante Budimir scored that day. They did respond with a 2-0 home win over Racing Santander before this round. The absences are significant, with Aimar Oroz, Herrando and Del Castillo all reported out through injury, which weakens both their creativity and their defensive depth.
The history between the clubs points the other way. None of the last six league meetings has produced more than three goals: a goalless draw in Pamplona, one 1-0 win for each side, two 1-1 draws in Seville, and Osasuna's 2-1 win in Pamplona last April. That is the strongest argument against our view. However, both squads have changed, and the current versions of these teams concede far more than the sides that played those tight games. Sevilla tend to attack in numbers at home, and Osasuna, with Budimir as a reference point up front, have shown they can score even on days when they ship goals.
The risks are clear. A cagey, low-tempo game fits the head-to-head record, and according to reports both clubs have a Copa del Rey tie later in the week, which could lead to rotation and a more cautious approach. A single early red card or a long spell of Sevilla protecting a lead could also kill the tempo. We chose the goals market rather than a Sevilla win because the home side's defensive problems make a straight win less convincing than the price suggests, while those same problems work in favour of a total above two and a half goals.
At OddsCapo, Over 2.5 goals is priced at 2.29 with Coolbet, which implies a probability of around 43.7 percent. Based on both teams' scoring and conceding rates this season, weighted down for the low-scoring head-to-head record, we estimate the chance of three or more goals at roughly 48 percent. That gives a modest but real edge, which is why we are backing goals at the Sánchez-Pizjuán.
