Roma have 18 points from eight league games (five wins, three draws) and a goal difference of +13. The schedule is heavy, though: Champions League games against Real Madrid and Slovan Bratislava came either side of a 2-0 home win over Genoa, and on Saturday Roma drew 3-3 away at Napoli. That leaves just three days of rest. According to the latest reports, Mile Svilar, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Manu Koné are among the absentees. Roma's home starts in the league have also been less explosive than their final scores suggest. They led at the break against Fiorentina (1-0) and Inter (2-0), but it was 0-0 at half-time against both Atalanta and Genoa, and in both of those games the goals only arrived after the interval.
Cagliari started the season well, with away wins at Parma, Atalanta and Udinese, but have since lost 0-2 at home to Bologna and 0-4 away to Monza. Their away profile is what interests us. In four league trips, Cagliari have been level at half-time three times: 0-0 at Parma, 1-1 at Atalanta and 0-0 at Udinese. The only exception was Monza, where they trailed 1-0 at the break before the game collapsed in the second half. Pisacane's side do not create much and rarely concede early, which tends to keep first halves tight. According to reports, Riyad Idrissi and Alessandro Felici are among their injured players.
Roma have the upper hand in this fixture. They won the most recent meeting 2-0 at the Olimpico in February 2026 and have won their last three home league games against Cagliari. Still, the pattern this season points to a match where Roma have most of the ball and Cagliari sit deep and compact. Against a low block, Roma have often needed time, substitutions and fresh legs to break through, which is exactly what made their wins over Atalanta and Genoa second-half stories.
The obvious risk is an early Roma goal. They scored inside five minutes against Inter, and with their attacking depth a single set piece or transition can settle the half-time market quickly. A Cagliari goal against the run of play would also beat us. We considered backing Roma to lead at half-time, but that price asks for a level of first-half dominance Roma have only shown in half of their home league games. A full-time Roma win is likely, but it offers little value, so the half-time draw is where we see the better balance between probability and price.
At OddsCapo, a draw at half-time is priced at 2.80 with Pinnacle, which corresponds to an implied probability of 35.7 per cent. We rate the chance at around 39 per cent, given Cagliari's tight first halves away from home, Roma's fatigue after Napoli and a string of absentees. The edge is modest and the samples are small, but we think the price is slightly generous.
