Parma - Torino in Serie A

Parma host Torino at the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Monday night, with kick-off at 20:45 Swedish time, in the game that closes Serie A's seventh round. Alberto Gilardino is still looking for his first points as Parma coach, while Ignazio Abate's Torino arrive unbeaten in two. Beyond the table, this is a fixture where the numbers point clearly towards a quiet evening at the corner flag.

Parma – Torino (Serie A, mån 19 okt. 20:45)

Parma have taken four points from six league games: one win, one draw and four defeats. They have scored only four goals and conceded ten, and they have let in at least one goal in every Serie A match so far. Their only win came at home against Genoa (2-1), while Monza (1-1) and Cagliari (0-1) were the other visitors to the Tardini. Gilardino replaced Carlos Cuesta and started with a 3-0 defeat at Inter. Nicolussi Caviglia, Almqvist and Elphege are all out injured. At home, Parma have averaged 3.7 corners for and 3.3 against, and their three home league games have produced seven corners per match on average, with no game higher than nine.

Torino sit on seven points after two wins, one draw and three defeats, with seven goals scored and nine conceded. Recent weeks have been better: a 2-1 win at Fiorentina, a 1-1 draw at Bologna and a 2-1 home win over Udinese last time out. Che Adams and Nikola Vlasic are expected to support Giovanni Simeone in attack, and according to reports Fortini is the only notable absentee. The key detail for this preview is the corner count. Torino's six league games have averaged 7.3 corners in total, the lowest figure in Serie A, and none of them has gone above nine. Away from home they have averaged 4.7 corners for and only 2.7 against.

The head-to-head record is mixed. Torino won 4-1 in Turin in March, but Parma won 2-1 at the Tardini in September 2025, and the two meetings before that ended 2-2 and 0-0. Taken together, the picture this time is two teams that rarely build sustained pressure. Parma take three corners per game, the joint-lowest figure in the league, and Torino are not far behind on 3.5. Neither side has a high-volume crossing game, and Torino under Abate have looked more interested in keeping the game compact than in pinning teams back.

The main risk is a match that opens up. If Parma score early and Torino are forced to chase, or the other way round, the trailing side can pile up corners in the final half-hour. Parma's 20-corner cup defeat against Cremonese is a reminder of how quickly that can happen, even if it came under the previous coach. The sample is also small after six rounds, and a new coach can change a team's approach. We have still chosen corners over the 1X2 market, because the result is hard to call between a struggling home side and an inconsistent away team, while the corner profile of both clubs points the same way.

That is why we are backing Under 9.5 corners. Combining both teams' home and away figures, we expect a total of around eight corners, and we estimate the chance of nine or fewer at roughly 68 per cent. The price of 1.60 at BetUK via OddsCapo implies a lower probability than that, so we see value in the line.
