Didier Digard's Le Havre are still waiting for their first league win of the season. After eight rounds they have two points, sit last in the table and have lost four in a row. The latest defeat summed up their autumn: they were 4-0 down at Marseille before three late goals made it 4-3. Scoring has been the main problem, with eight league goals in eight games. Digard is also without several players, including goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi, Elias Jelert, Stephen Zagadou, Timothée Pembele and Félix Mambimbi.
PSG top the table on 17 points and have won their last five games in all competitions, most recently a 2-0 home win over Lyon. Luis Enrique's side paid a heavy price for their Champions League win over Barcelona on 20 October, though. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia tore his cruciate ligament and faces months out, while Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos both suffered thigh injuries expected to sideline them for several weeks. Nuno Mendes is also missing with a muscle problem. PSG are still scoring around two goals per league game.
PSG have won the last four meetings between the clubs. The expected picture is familiar: PSG with the ball, Le Havre deep in a compact block and looking for counters through Josh Maja. Breaking down a deep defence usually depends on width and individual quality in the final third, and with four key players missing, that is exactly where PSG are weakest on Friday. François Letexier is the referee.
The main risk is obvious. If PSG score early, Le Havre's fragile confidence could crack, and a team that conceded four in an hour at Marseille is capable of losing heavily. PSG's bench is still deep even without their injured stars. On the other hand, Luis Enrique is expected to rotate with a Champions League trip to Villarreal on Tuesday, and his attack has lost its two most creative wide players. That is why we prefer Le Havre +1.5 to the outright price on PSG, which offers little value. Our bet wins if Le Havre avoid defeat or lose by a single goal. A two-goal PSG win, a scoreline that is entirely plausible, means the bet loses. The +1.5 line has no half outcomes and no refund, so the result is decided entirely by the margin at the final whistle. We also considered the +2 line, which returns the stake on a two-goal PSG win, but we prefer the higher price at +1.5.
At OddsCapo, Le Havre +1.5 on the Asian handicap is priced at 2.05 with Paf, an implied probability of 48.8 per cent. Given PSG's injuries and the likely rotation ahead of the Villarreal game, we put the chance of PSG winning by fewer than two goals, or not at all, at around 53 per cent. That is a small but clear edge, and that's why we're backing the home side with the goal and a half head start.
Betting tip: Le Havre +1.5 @ 2.05 (Paf)
