Hammarby - Sirius in Allsvenskan

Allsvenskan's title race comes to a head on Thursday evening when Hammarby host league leaders Sirius at 3Arena in Stockholm, with kick-off at 18:30. After 25 rounds Sirius are six points clear of Hammarby with five matches left, so a home win would cut the gap to three, while any other result would leave the Uppsala side within touching distance of the title.

Hammarby – Sirius (Allsvenskan, tors 29 okt. 18:30)

Hammarby have been at their most convincing at home. In twelve league matches at 3Arena they have won nine, drawn one and lost two, with a goal difference of 34–7, and their overall goal difference of +31 is the best in the division. Henrik Rydström, in charge since June, has also tightened the defence: Hammarby have won four of their last five league games and conceded only two goals in that run. Paulos Abraham leads their scoring with 14 league goals. Several of the recent wins have been narrow and hard-earned rather than comfortable.

Sirius arrive as the league leaders and the strongest away side in the country. Andreas Engelmark's team have won ten, drawn one and lost one of their twelve away league games, and Isak Bjerkebo has 14 league goals. The momentum has cooled at an awkward moment, though. Sirius drew 2–2 at home to Elfsborg and then lost 1–2 at home to AIK on Saturday, taking one point from their last two matches. Their six-point cushion changes the calculation all the same: a draw in Stockholm would keep Hammarby at arm's length with only four rounds left, so Sirius have no need to chase this game from the first whistle.

Recent meetings have swung both ways. Sirius won 2–0 in Uppsala in April, while Hammarby won the two previous league meetings in Stockholm, 3–2 in May 2025 and 3–0 in May 2024. The stakes this time point towards a cautious opening. Hammarby need to win to close the gap, but they have conceded one goal or fewer in six straight league matches and have tended to grind out results lately rather than overwhelm opponents early. Sirius, for their part, have little reason to open the game up before they have to. We expect a patient first half between two teams who know a single mistake could decide the title.

The risks are clear. Hammarby have scored 34 goals in their home league games, and an early goal from them, or a Sirius breakaway of the kind that has won them so many away games, would settle this bet before the break. Both teams have scored freely over the season, so a level score at half-time is far from a given. We have still chosen the half-time market rather than the full-time result. In our view a Hammarby win is fairly priced and offers no edge, while Sirius' recent dip makes it hard to back them outright. The opening 45 minutes are where the stakes are most likely to shape the match, and a draw at the interval covers 0–0, 1–1 and any other level score.

The draw at half-time is priced at 2.70 with Pinnacle at OddsCapo, which corresponds to an implied probability of about 37.0 per cent. Our own estimate, based on both teams' scoring rates and the market's view of the full-time result, puts the chance of a level score at the break at around 40 per cent. That is a modest edge rather than a large one, but in a match where both sides have good reasons to be careful early on, we think the price is slightly generous. That's why we're backing the draw at half-time.
